We run a setup with 10 targets used for 25m and 50m competitions, and we are experiencing a very specific issue with target #6.
Occasionally, target 6 drops offline. When this happens, it causes the subsequent targets in the chain (7 through 10) to go offline irregulary as well. Additionally, target 6 registers „phantom“ shots (recorded as zeros) when no one is actively shooting on it—roughly one per minute, though it is irregular.
We previously sent the target back to SIUS for repair, but they found nothing wrong with it.
Over the weekend, the issue reappeared, but this time I managed to pinpoint the exact conditions: the problem occurs only when the sun is shining directly on the target and the temperature reaches around 20°C. Everything works perfectly during morning sessions, but as soon as the sun hits it and it gets brighter/warmer, the issue triggers, forcing us to shut down half the range. However, as soon as I completely unplug target 6 from the data line, targets 7 to 10 immediately start working normally again.
I have check the back and the front of the target to see if sunlight was getting in the system, but I can’t see anything different between that target and the others.
Has anyone ever encountered a similar issue or have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
